We are pretty basic and straight forward folks - we work hard and want the best for our son. Like most people we are very concerned with the seemingly ever increasing advent and spread of infections and are looking for ways to deal with them in the most effective way possible. We have learned that using antibiotics is not always the best treatment solution and that in fact they are often 'over perscribed'. With this in mind we try to take a more holistic and natural route whenever possible.

It seems that the frequency of 'outbreaks' and threats is ever increasing. Whether we are recoiling to the 9/11 tragedy or the more recent treat of chemical and biological weapons or the recent outbreak of SARS or the West Nile virus or Mad Cow disease... It is clear that we have to be informed and prepared to deal with these matters.

We are very fortunate to have a family that has its fair share of doctors (my uncle, Dr. Tom Burdon is a cardiac surgeon at Stanford University in California) so we are able to get fast advice and treatment for just about anything medical that confronts us.

However, as you can imagine, we have always been somewhat skeptical about alternate medicine and natural healing remedies... but when I ran into a problem with a foot infection it seemed that all conventional medical wisdom in the world could not help me -- but a natural remedy did --- "Tea Tree Oil."

I had a serious infection problem with my feet that was treated through the use of Tea Tree oil. I want to share my story with you in the hope that you can benefit from my experiences. Many people are unaware that the vast majority of medicines used today come from a natural source. We lose sight of the power that resides in nature. We often see the power of nature as being present in Hurricanes, Tornados, Earthquakes - however the healing power that resides in nature is awesome and a wonderful example is that of the Tea Tree Oil.

I had started my own business a few years ago, an asphalt treatment business. As you can imagine, this is pretty physical work and provides ample opportunity to perspire heavily and develop all kinds of rashes and perfect conditions for athlete's foot. Needless to say, I was in contact with black asphalt and other petroleum products everyday. I had it all over my hands and other exposed areas of my body and my clothes were basically a write off every few weeks. I experienced some pretty terrible times with rashes and infections with my feet and hands and I tried pretty well every foot powder and cream you can imagine.

My story really begins on the 'magic day' one of my customers suggested that I try tea tree oil to treat my feet. I didn't have a clue what they were talking about but it didn't take much to convince me to try just about anything at that point so I bought some Melaleuca tea tree oil. I just couldn't believe the results, I got instant relief and in a matter of a couple of days I was back to normal. I just couldn't believe the power that this tea tree oil stuff had and decided I had to know and learn more. I began doing some investigational work on tea tree oil and learned it has been around for quite some time. I started doing some checking online and found out some background information on where the tea tree comes from (Australia) and how long this stuff has been around and known about. (It has well established medical records that date back to the time of Captain Cook).

I continued doing my 'homework' and began to pull together a 'picture' of current day examples and testimonials made by doctors and other medical professionals on the healing powers of tea tree oil. I have pulled together a number of these examples and case studies so that you can read them for yourself.

I believe that they are excellent examples of how effective tea tree oil is in working against a range of bacterial infections of the skin and mucous membranes. It is also effective against common fungal infections of the skin such as ringworm and tinea, and has been used successfully in the treatment of burns. It is of special value as a skin antiseptic and is effective against boils and carbuncles. It is also used in antiseptic creams, ointments, medicated shampoos, soaps, mouthwashes, and in pet products such as dog shampoo.
